Rabid Habs

Avalanche vs Habs – Game Recap

Colorado Avalanche

After Alex Galchenyuk netted the overtime winner in Thursday’s 3-2 winner over Colorado, the Habs travelled to Quebec City to play the Avs for the second time in as many nights.

The Habs played a great game the night before as Max Pacioretty, P.K. Subban and Alex Galchenyuk all scored in Thursday’s 3-2 overtime win. P.K. Subban was my first star of Thursday’s game. Subban had a goal and two assists in just under 30 minutes of time on ice.

As for Friday night’s win, the Habs were victorious for the third time in this pre-season.

Erik Johnson opened the scoring on the power-play for the Avs.

Sven Andrighetto tied the game for the Habs mid-way through the second, after he took a blast from the point that took a deflection and went past Semyon Varlamov.

Ryan O’Reilly walked out in front and snapped one by Tokarski as the Avs took the lead early in the third.

It was Sekac who scored his second of the pre-season to tie the game up at 2 after a wrap around that beat Varlamov.

Brandon Prust then gave the Habs the 3-2 lead as they hung on for the win to give the Habs their third win of the pre-season.

NOTES:

Sven Andrighetto / Jacob de la Rose / Jiri Sekac were the most dominating line for the Habs tonight. They created so many chances, but Varlamov was up to the task for the most part.

No doubt in my mind that Jiri Sekac will be on the opening night roster, no way they can leave him off the roster, way too good.

He’s big, fast, protects the puck well, has great hands, real strong on the puck, drives to the net & creates a lot of chances.

I have to agree with Chris – Sekac looked really good tonight adding another goal, he played very well the first game against Boston on top of adding that nice blast from the faceoff circle on Niklas Svedberg.

Tinordi played another solid game, look for him to get a opening day roster spot, come October 8th.

The Habs’ next pre-season game comes Sunday against the Washington Capitals.
