Rabid Habs

Habs Cut Francis Bouillon

Habs' Francis Bouillon

Montreal Canadiens Head Coach Michel Therrien and GM Marc Bergevin met with Francis Bouillon this morning to inform him that the team would not offer him a contract for next season.

This is probably a difficult decision for Therrien, who coached Bouillon in the juniors.

However, the Habs have many young defensemen expected to make the jump to the National Hockey League, including Nathan Beaulieu and Jarred Tinordi.

In the case of Bouillon, he could pursue his career in Switzerland. According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, the Québécois would have a 2-year offer on the table.

Bouillon had 6 points in 52 games with the Canadiens in 2013-2014. The veteran defenseman added 2 goals and a +4 rating in 9 playoff games.

At 38 years old, Bouillon tallied 149 points (32 goals, 117 assists) in 776 regular season games in his career since his NHL debut in 1999-2000. He also played for the Nashville Predators.
