Habs Ink Price to Eight-Year Deal

The Montreal Canadiens have announced an eight-year contract extension with goaltender Carey Price. Price’s new max-term contract will kick in after next season (2018-19) and will carry an average annual value of $10.5 million dollars, according to Pierre LeBrun.

When the extension kicks in, Price will be the highest paid goaltender in the league, surpassing Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers. It will also be the fourth largest cap-hit among active players, behind only Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Anze Kopitar.

In 509 games with the Canadiens, Carey Price has 270 wins and 39 shutouts. In 2014-15, Price took home the Vezina and Hart trophies for best goaltender and most valuable player, respectively.
