Habs Release Michel Therrien, Hire Claude Julien

The Montreal Canadiens have announced the firing of head coach Michel Therrien and the hiring of former Boston Bruins head coach Claude Julien.

The move came on Tuesday, which was the second day of the Canadiens mandatory bye-week.

Julien coached the Bruins to a Stanley Cup championship in 2011, and coached the Canadiens for three seasons. Julien was released by the Bruins on February 7.
