Steven Stamkos scored a hat trick for the Tampa Bay Lightning, who have won two games out of three so far. This was the eighth career hat trick for Stamkos.

Victor Hedman, Ryan Callahan, Ondrej Palat and Vladislav Namestnikov also scored for the Lightning, while Ben Bishop blocked 16 shots.

Brendan Gallagher scored for the Habs. Carey Price blocked 19 of 23 shots. Replacing Price to start the third period, Dustin Tokarski allowed 3 goals on 18 shots. The domination of the Lightning was most evident in the third period, where Jon Cooper’s team led 18-1 in terms of shots.

Going 0-for-4 on the power play, the Habs now have a record of 0-fo-14 with the man advantage in its first four games.

After wins in Toronto, Washington and Philadelphia, the Canadiens have concluded a four-game road trip to start the season. The Habs will play its first home game Thursday against the Boston Bruins.
