Rabid Habs

Markov Passes Harvey, Takes Sole Possession of 3rd

The Habs visited the Sabres on November 5th, scoring once in regulation and winning 2-1 in shootout. PK Subban and Andrei Markov assisted on P-A Parenteau’s third period goal to open scoring. Markov’s assist was his 448th career point, putting him in sole possession of third in franchise defenseman points.

The two other Habs to pass Doug Harvey’s mark of 447 points are Larry Robinson (883 points) and Guy Lapointe (572 points). Larry Robinson’s #19 was retired by the Canadiens in 2007, Doug Harvey’s #2 in 1985 and Lapointe’s #5 will join them in the rafters on Saturday.

Markov being a career Hab with his points total in the company of those with retired numbers means we will likely see #79 hoisted to the rafters following Markov’s retirement.

Subban is also climbing in the franchise defense scoring leaderboard, he is currently in 17th with 176 career points (16th place Eric Desjardins has 179).
