Pateryn Extends Contract With Habs Until 2018

Greg Pateryn

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Greg Pateryn has agreed to a one-way, two year contract which will pay him $750K for 2016-17 and $850K for 2017-18. Pateryn still has one year remaining on his current contract at just $562.5K cap hit.

In the 17 games played with the Montreal Canadiens during the 2014-15 season, the 25 year old averaged 12:39 of ice time per game, dishing out 48 hits and during his 53 AHL games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, Pateryn grabbed three goals and 12 assists as well as racking up 56 penalty points.

Overall, GM Marc Bergevin got a great deal for a guy who has developed into a solid sixth defenseman.
