Subban Seeking $45.5M Over 7 Years

According to St. Louis Blues “insider”, Andy Strickland, PK Subban is seeking a contract in excess of $45.5M, 7 years. The Habs defenseman would be looking for a deal similar to Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues.

Effective July 1st, Subban will be a Restricted Free Agent. There are no indications that another team will be extending an offer sheet for his services. However, if such a thing was to happen, Marc Bergevin would have the opportunity to match the offer.

At this time, this is nothing more than a rumour. However, if there is truth to it, I would be drafting the paperwork immediately.

The Montreal Canadiens selected Subban in the second round (43rd overall) at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. In 284 regular season games, he accumulated 42 goals and 125 assists. In 2013, he won the James Norris Memorial Trophy and was the leading scorer amongst defensemen.

What do you think? Would you sign PK Subban at $45.5M over 7 years? Leave us your comments, Tweet us your thoughts or reach out via Facebook.

This seems highly unlikely. If he was asking that little the deal would have already been signed.

If meehan has tossed out a number – and I doubt he has- it would be more like 8 years $68 million.

Can’t say I disagree with you, but that is the rumor being tossed around out there. When it comes from a guy like Strickland, it makes it even more interesting. We’ll see I guess…
