Sylvain Lefebvre Returns Behind The Bench For The Laval Rocket

With the departure from the St. John to Laval, the Canadiens’ affiliate team is in dire need of a new man behind the bench. A change in the city should come with a coaching change. Due to the ailing numbers of prospects coming through the ranks and a dreadful 164-168-48 regular season record amounting to one playoff appearance in his 5-year tenure,  there is certainly reason for concern.

Unfortunately, Sylvain Lefebvre will continue to be the head coach of the newly formed Laval Rocket. Larry Carriere was also re-appointed as the team’s general manager.

It’s quite disappointing that he’s still at the helm. It’s noticeable to many Habs fans that he has the inability of properly developing his players. Hopefully, our 2017 draft class won’t succumb to his developmental issues. It would be a shame if he was still behind the bench when the 2017 draft class progresses to the AHL. The Habs made out like bandits selecting great prospects such as Ryan Poehling, Josh Brook, Joni Ikonen, and Cale Fleury just to name a few.

We know for certain that Joni Ikonen won’t be stuck under Sly’s regime. Ikonen will be practicing his craft back in Europe with Frolunda. Coincidentally, Artturi Lehkonen started in the same program as Ikonen.

As for the other prospects we currently maintain, only time can tell if they can escape Sly’s regime.
